A thick black PVD coating gives the case its deep blackout finish. PVD means physical vapour deposition—a process that bonds a thin, hard coating to the surface.

Sapphire is a very hard crystal chosen for its resistance to everyday scratches. It protects your view of the black dial and yellow seconds hand.

The NH36 is a mechanical automatic movement. As your wrist moves, its rotor winds the mainspring. No battery is needed.
You can also wind it by hand. Pull the crown to the time-setting position and the seconds hand stops, helping you set the time precisely. Its 24 jewels reduce friction at key points; a full wind provides more than 41 hours of running time.
The clear caseback lets you see the movement at work.
English Or Japanese Weekday
Two Languages. Your Choice.
Choose an English or Japanese weekday beside the yellow numeric date. Both are driven by the NH36, so the display changes as the watch runs.
At the first crown click, turn one way to set the date and the other to set the day. Choose the language you want on the day wheel.
Do not quick-set the calendar between 9 pm and 4 am. Move the hands outside that window first. Push and secure the crown after setting.

FKM is a fluoroelastomer: a durable rubber known for resisting oils and heat. It gives this strap a flexible feel for everyday wear.

What Is The Water-Resistance Rating?
Phantom Yellow Strike is rated 10 ATM as standard. You can add 5 ATM during the build for a total of 15 ATM. Select the optional upgrade above; its price is shown in your shopping currency.
A water-resistance rating is not a diving certification. Avoid hot water, and do not operate the crown while the watch is wet. Ask John if you need advice for a specific activity.

Who Builds This Watch?
This watch is independently assembled by Chrono Customs using a Japanese NH36 movement and aftermarket case and dial parts. It is not a factory-branded watch.

The Marais 33mm looks gorgeous and feels very solid, but for my tiny wrist it’s a little heavier than I expected. Quality is amazing though, so I kept it.

Sounds dramatic but this reminds me of my grandma’s old watches, just modern. The design is simple, no random crystals or weird logos, so I feel like it’ll still look good in ten years. I’ve already worn it to work, to church, and to a baby shower and it just fits every time. If my daughter ever gets into watches, this will be the one I hand her first.

I ordered this watch, as I needed a white face with rubber strap. Already have a Rolex Explorer with white face but the rubber strap was a must. The watch took the estimated 4 weeks, so I was eagerly waiting. Upon arrival, I was impressed with the build. I will more than likely wear this as a daily.
